Wrestling my Hobie Outback thru narrow door openings was a chore and really required two people. Ya See, I often transport my kayak inside my travel trailer and also like to store the yak inside my climate friendly man cave. Both places have doors too narrow for the 33" wide Outback laying flat.

I have been tinkering with carts and finally came up with a cart that works for me. It is an easy, stable, one man operation. I can also store the kayak on this cart. I still have my Hobie scupper cart when needed.

This cart is a braced plywood platform with a vinyl top. It is about 16" wide and 40" long. Two tie down straps hold the cart to the kayak. I throw a piece of carpet over the threshold and can easily roll through narrow doorways.

Thanks to fellow forum folks that helped me figure this out.

It is a little heavy but it is solid and does not tip. (I always over engineer). Feel free to critique the cart. The more minds the better. BTW, the old grocery cart in the photo holds everything I need to load in the pickup so I don't forget my PFD ect. The guitar stays in the man cave. smile

I tried several wheels but no golf cart. The wheels I chose were the ones that came on my Hobie cart. I wanted light weight since the cart was getting heavy and I have to momentarily lift the cart and Kayak going into the RV.

I put 12" spoke wheels on my scupper cart. They are heavy but make the kayak at a more comfortable height. I am on the look out for some lighter wheels. smile
