I was on the water yesterday when my front unit started giving me a "transducer not connected message" when it started up.

It had been working fine, the transducer is mounted on the trolling motor. I had just pulled up the TM and idled a little ways. In the mean time, I accidentally turn off the master power so all my units shut off. So when I powered back up I started getting the message on my (788c) front unit. I checked the connection and everything looked okay.

I thought something might be wrong with the unit so I mounted on my dash connection and it worked fine.

I even pulled the connections from the mount and connected directly to the unit without any luck. The transducer wire appears okay.

Any other ideas what to check?

i have had this problem with my 1197. the push in connecters on hummingbirds is not their best. i lose my gps connection sometimes also. i wish they had the screw on connections. nothing more frustrating then motoring across lake in rougher water and lose gps or power

The connectors fit into a part that is screwed on. Are you not using it?

Yes the connection are screwed on to the mounting bracket. I have had an issue once where the connection still pushed down so the connection wasn't good. However, that is not the case here and I testing with and without the connect just to make sure it was the same problem.

Mine does that sometimes. (Don't Laugh!) I wet my finger and get the connections on the unit wet and re-plug the unit in the bracket. Sometimes I just "whack" the unit. When you get the chance unscrew the wireholder cover on the mounting unit on the deck and push up the plugs and bend the wire bracket flanges up to keep the plugs pushed up. They get pushed down and loose the connection from pushing and removing the unit from the quick disconnect bracket. Hopefully it's a loose connection and not a broken wire or Unit Problem.

Do you have the power cord extended directly to the battery or did you use the boat wiring harness for power?

Have you called Humminbird Technical Support?
If not heres there phone # 1-800-633-1468
I shipped my front unit to them yesterday bc my sd card reader quit working. They were very helpful and polite to deal with over the phone.

My 997 did the same thing I would have to turn it off and then back on, when it got to the start up option I would have to switch it back to Normal not Simulator. Not exactly sure why it started doing it but it did.

I did do that when I was on the water. I am hoping the transducer didn't go out.

The power runs from the dash. Everything is getting power. Just getting a transducer not connected messege on the front unit.

I haven't called anyone yet just checking to see if anyone had a similar issue and suggestions to correct it.

Thanks.
