I don't hear much about this lake much on TFF. I have never been on the lake but have studying navionics maps. It is by far really different looking than most lakes I have fished. I have a tournament out there in a couple weekends any just wanted to how easy it is to navigate. Seems like it is pretty shallow lake.

Its about 6-8 feet low from what the maps are saying too. I used to know the lake well but not enough time on it lately.

There has been many a post about pines and even a post with 100+ coordinates for running the lanes.

LOP from mid-lake north is difficult and dangerous when this low. Just running the marked boat lane is a challenge. Don't assume you can run the boat lane when the lake is this low. There is a large sand-bar right in the middle of it. Nothing can replace time on the water for learning it. We are going to try and be there a few days early before the tournament, so holler at us and I can show you all I know about it.

Mike you scared me with all these talks about stumps in boat lanes and shallow spots. My partner won as a coangler in BASS Weekend series but water was a lot higher. I'm not sure I want to be flying across the water if there are some bad spots in boat lanes.
I guess we will try to get down therenext two Fridays and pre fish a bit and take it slow.

I have fished LOP a few times. Very cool lake.
Most of the lake is wide open, but if you go in the timber to the good places to fish, you run on the right side of the telephones installed in the boat lanes as markers
I am sure a LOP junkie can add to my posts due to the lake being so low now
BassBustingTexas knows the lake well, as others whom live in the area
I am only good at Winning Tournaments on LOP.......

thanks guys, we will be out there checking some areas we have found on maps, just dont want to sink or beach the boat. i have not been on the lake for 3 years so i dont know what to expect with the low water levels.
i know going north will be hard and slow, but is there any low points or humps on main lake or main creeks that may be out of water or have hidden stumps that may be dangerous?

You may want to be careful running into Alley Creek. As you approach the cove from the main lake, the left main lake point comes way out into the mounth of the cove. I believe there are some bouys marking it as a shallow area. It is best to enter on the far right side but then turn left to avoid a rock pile that is maked by a bouy (a couple of these rocks are out of the water so you should see the area easily).

the lake can be dangerous when it is this low,be careful as stated as there are some unforseen obstacles in the boat lane going north and in the mouths of a couple of coves, heck just get your A-rigs out and go to the dam and fish........

ABSOLUTELY!!!.. I came flying in there back last summer when the levels were even lower than now and heard my alarm go off right as I felt my boat dragging bottom of a sand bar that stretches over half way across the mouth of Alley!!. Got a couple of nice little nicks/dings in my prop!! Talk about pucker factor!
