I have been using 5 abu garcia 6500 c3's all of them upgraded to two bearing level wind assemblies. I am getting better at them every day. Great reels.

But stupidly I forgot that everyone who comes out on my boat cannot cast one of these.

I ended up buying 2 ugly sticks and 2 Okuma Epixor automatic bait feeders. NICE REELS.

Here is how I feel. I think that there is a reel for every occasion. I also think I need to be more mindful of my friends who cannot use a bait caster. Heck I am barely able to and have been catching fish for years with spin casters.

Leave it to me to overreact and sell all my spin casting stuff. Turns out I love them both.

Well, spider man is pretty cool. But not when it comes to fishing rods. Maybe we should try cane pole drifting. If you ever manage to land one, you would surely be a pro.

I think dad still has some of our 25 ft Calcutta poles at the house!!!

Might be a stupid question, but can't you still tighten the spools down on the 6500s, or have they changed them. used to do alot of snagging with the 7000s but they would even tighten down.

Sadly I grew up in the Northwest, as did many of my friends. We all used Spin casters. I am trying to break my northerner ways....... hahhaha
But I do like a good automatic bait feeder spin casting reel. They are nice reels.

Yep, you can tighten up all the bait casters. Plus the nice ones have magnet help. As the used car salesman used to say, there is an A$$ for every seat.

Awww there ain't nothing wrong with spinning reels!! I just ain't coordinated enough to use them and they don't fit my rod holders very well!!! Lol

I agree Tom. My 3 year old loves em.

hahahahah. I ain't coordinated enough to use bait casters. I think it is so funny how we love what we know. One thing for sure. Bait casters have less moving parts. I have gotten into rebuilding them for the last few months and they are rock solid. Either way, if the fish ends up in my boat, I am cool with it.
