Hey guys, I am heading back to Texoma with a few friends of mine. Made plans for fishing in January and come time to go, my trolling motor has completely failed. I have an appt to get it fixed next week, but leaves me up the creek for this weekend.
Would it be worth it to go out and use live bait and just anchor down? I was planning on targeting the state park rocks and any wind blown points I could find.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks! I am going to pick one up today. Is it pretty self explanatory? Or does it take some practice.

Just drop it off the side of the boat and give it say three foot of rope and it will slow you down quite a bit in the wind if you are going to do some drift fishing. Academy has the bigger ones for like 14 dollars.

Academy has the best price for vynl ones. The only thing you may not pick up on immediately, is rigging the dump line.
It will be obvious to tie a rope to the front of the sock, but on the back end there should be another attachment point. This is so you can pull the sock from the back and cause it to dump the water out when you pull it into the boat. If you try to pull up the vynly cone full of water from the front, you have to lift the weight of the water, or wait for it all to drain out.
Other then that, I use rope that floats, with a peice pool noodle on it, so If the sock gets loose or I need to let it loose, it will float and not sink to the bottom.

Just go anchor off one of the points in 40 feet and cast toward the bank.

Better be ready. I have been focused on Texoma crappie the last week but caught gobs of stripers with all those shad in the coves. Lots of them are 12-14 inchers, but there are biguns in the mix as well.My fishing buddy had one break off on a bass rig with 12 lb test line.
Not only are they biting but they are biting with a vengeance. I just finished cleaning a ice chest full of fish from Texoma and the stripers all look like they swallowed balloons. They are pigging out on all those shad. If you want to catch stripers, I would not wait.

PK, what part of the lake are you fishing? Haven't been down this year and we are headed down the end of the week. Not asking for exact location just a good starting point. Thanks

Coachlew: I've just been going to Eisenhower, but earlier this week when the wind was down you could see them chasing shad everywhere. I hear down by the dam is good, but I would be confident fishing for striper off any of those points. My humminbird shows gobs of fish there. I know they are not all stripers. Been catching Crappie, Sand bass (16 inchers), smallmout h and largemouth all chasing those schools of shad. Got this fine fellow off the point as you come into the marina right at dusk. Pulled my little boat back into the lake.
