Hey im 17 years old and go bass fishing on a daily basis... I want to get started in tournaments. I have no idea where to start. I dont have a fishing boat and the boat i do have is not running at the moment... I am also wondering about the transition from neiborhood ponds and golf coarse ponds to large lakes

Yep... Im that highschool kid who spends all his lunch money on tackle

Check with some of the local clubs to get started. Some are set up for draw tournaments with boaters. Get some experience like that and then maybe move up to the BFL or Bassmaster Weekend Series as a Co-Angler. These are regional circuits and you can learn a lot if you listen to the boaters. But first try the local clubs.
Good Luck.

Bigron119 is right fish the local bass club first if you win a few fish a couple BFL tourneys as a co-angler then go from there. You can also check the Bass Federation.

Find a partner that has a boat. Start fishing opens and trails.
Just fish and have fun. Do the research for time of year and patterns.
Time on the water wins tournaments!

Dont know where u are but find a local marina or tackle shop and spread the word your looking for a partner. Fix your boat or buy a cheaper bass boat to get u on the water.

I'm 16. And I got a nitro for my 16th birthday. I fish every weekend. Last year I starred fishing tournaments and it's an awesome experience and you meet a lot of new people who will teach you things that will help you not just in fishing but life! You wouldn't regret it one bit!
