I will be going to Texoma 5-11 and 5-12 with my wife. I have not been on the lake this year. Any advice would be great. For example - put in at High Point and fish the islands?? Depths? if i can't catch shad i will use slabs, Sassy Shad baits, top water baits.

Thank you,
John

Here is where I have been successful during spring / summer:

1 put in at cedar mills- head out and go north (left).
2 get hook n line map- fish pelican island (bouy right in middle (fish west side of it). Fish west side shore across from it up to point. Another bouy south and one also east of pelican fish those.
3. RSR slabs - white is go to then chart and silver...
4 fish wil school in evening at times and transition throught there from deep to shallow

John,
We fished it Sunday. The boat armada seemed to stay NE of the North Island just out (and a little south) from Oil Well Pt.

There were a zillion birds out there, but we never saw any of them working schooling fish. A few days of warm weather and I bet that place starts to go crazy!

Best bet mid may..leave highport and go north or south..won't have to go far..drift behind the islands or work the river channels and the bluffs. Fish today we caught we all spawned out and that means they will be feeding hard as they start migrating east and south
Top waters around islands is always a good bet in mid may..I wouldn't slab yet but any swim baits will work..check with moe's tackle and tell him to hook ya up with some Texoma swim baits..he's got it all and knows what we been using up here

JD,

Thanks for all the information you share I will be down at the end of the week to fish and was wondering what type of rock bank you target when looking for topwater fish. I will be going out of Caney Creek and any information would be helpful. Thanks for any help.

Kevin

Near Caney I would work the rocks south towards soldier creek and west towards the cross.. More than enough ground to cover in the short window you will have
The top water bite will usually quit once the sun gets high in the sky...
That's prime top water areas..I would let the wind dictate exactly where you fish..fish the wind blown banks..and if ya see egrets working the shoreline definitely fish there smile

Try the Dam or as most call it Denison Dam, I'm not too familiar with the area but some local bait and tackle shops should help you out and give you some pointers
