I have a buddy flying in from out of town, and we're headed to Caddo Thursday, Friday & maybe Saturday. Neither of us have the extra cash to spring for a guide.
This will only be my second time there. Any advice on what might be working i.e. main lake vs. bayous, depth etc. We're not tourny anglers, just guys looking to fish.
We'll be fishing out of my Tracker, and staying at Shady Glade. If you see us, feel free to swing by and say hi.

We were there a couple of weeks ago for a small tourny. Old Folks was putting out a few fish. Flip the trees with your favorite bait. Caught some on a swim bait (Skinny Dipper) if the water clears up in some areas. Did not get a topwater bite, but would still throw a buzzbait early just to see! Good luck and enjoy the scenery!

Which ones? The single tree next to the cluster? The cluster with no single next to it? The ones on the bank or the first cluster off the bank? The ones in 3.2 feet of water or the ones in 3.4? You gotta narrow it down a little JJ

lol Just fish all of them. I have always done better in whatever grass you can find this time of the year than the trees. For me in May it was always numbers of fish in the grass with a few good ones. Not many bites on isolated trees but they would be good ones. I caught my largest bass at Caddo in May on an isolated tree by potters point. It was just over 8lbs. (Which I know for Caddo is not a giant). It was the only fish i caught on a tree that day. Had about 20 out of the grass but none over the slot.

Caddo is very intriguing to me and I really like going to the lake, but I don't catch many fish there.
Some of this info is good, but a lot is rather vague I must say.

... Some of this info is good, but a lot is rather vague I must say. My comments were meant in jest; a reflection of "tips" I've received from locals over the years. Essentially what I've found is that when the locals tell you to fish the trees, they're telling you to get lost. What I've also learned is that hiring a guide is a good idea. Or just take mudd fishing with you, and have the net ready

Groups of trees don't produce. Can tell u fish trees off islands not on the islands. Just throw a green pumpkin chart senko and hand on.
Blu-Ranger get the net ready next weekend. I know where some big girls r right now out there
