OK so Ive been fishing for most of my life but never with a spinning reel. I have started trying to fish the drop shot but I cant find a line thats not braid that doesent behave itself on the spinning reel. I have tried spooling it clockwise, counter clockwise and none of these tricks seem to help. Any suggestions? Lines Ive tried: Seguar 12 lb 100% fluor, P line Co polymer 10 LB. Both lines just seem to be spring loaded after the cast they just jump off the spool and make a mess. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you're spooling too much line on the reel.

Suggest reconsidering the 'non braid' parameter. I've had some luck with smaller diameter invisx (8-10), but 10 pound powerpro or nanofil with a 6-8 pound invisx leader is the way to go, in my opinion. No issues in clear water.

Also, you can drop shot using baitcasting too. I routinely do it with 12 lb fluoro. I figure most of Tx lake I fish aren't so clear like a west coast lake so even 10-12 lb fluoro here works fine.

8-10 pound invisx just only spool up half the spool.

I have switched to Berkley Nano Fil, it comes in white & lo-vis green. Spool about half the spool with mono & then finish it with the Nano Fil. When I'm in very clear water I use a swivel & a fluoro leader.

sunline sniper fc. I use 7# for drop shotting and 8 or 10 for shakey head. Best line out there imo.
