Well I decided i wanted to get out this weekend and wanted to go to a lake that i got high hopes for. After chatting with joe (texas state chair) and a friend cary who lives close to the lake i wanted to fish, we decided to head out there and get a good spot. it was about 7:30pm friday when i told joe where i wanted to go and when he said lets go, i put it all into high gear. After hitting wally world for food and method stuff, and tractor supply for 2 50lb bags of cubes, and loading my gear, i hit the road at 10pm, arrived at the swim around 12:45, joe soon followed about 10 minutes later. at 1:30 we both was setupp and had lines out. little did we know this was going to be a great trip.
at 4am joe gets a a few beeps and we think catfish, well after pickiing the rod up and reeling a bit he says no i dont think it is. as it got closer it got heavier, after netting the fish i seen that it had been shot with a arrow at some point here recently, the wound was still pretty new. after weighing it it went 24 pounds. nice start to the trip. A couple hours later i get a screeming take, and fought this fish for a few minutes, while fighting it joe gets a run, so that leaves me to net my own fish lol. well this fish wasent having it, it ran and ran and ran every time i tried to net it. after 4 attempts at netting it, i finally got it in and my back was killing me. so i set the net down and the rod, hoping it would get away again, and i went over and netted joe's fish. mine went 27.8 and joe's went 23.8!
as the day went on, the wind picked up and the water got rougher and rougher, but the fish kept coming harder and faster. at one point we had a fish in the sling, tied to the peir, and we both had fish on at once, 3 fish in 5 minutes. my friend cary was about 3 hours late, and we sure needed his help with the madness. after getting a triple we both took a break to relax a bit.
after weighing the 3 fish, getting pics and them back to the water, i made up 15 method balls and we chummed out 4 bags of old K-1 boilies in various flavors,
about 12pm joe gets take and says it feels little, but again as it for closer it got heavier, after netting we realized this was the same fish from 4am. awesome, but this time it was 4 ounces heavier then before.so now it was 24.4
i cant recall the last time iv had so much fun, and so much action we ended up with 21 fish, 12 over 20 pounds.sweet. there is so many pics that i cant remember what fish is what weight but i do know the 2 biggest ones. here are a few of my pics, joe should post his sometime later!.
