Would anybody say they did "good" fishing Pines during KYKX? Would you have put together a solid stringer in a regular tournament? We fished everywhere we could think of on the south end of the lake (Alley, Johnson, Copeland, Hurricane and a couple other spots). We fished shallow and deep. We caught several fish on Saturday (nothing big) but only a couple fish on Sunday.

It was one of those weekends where I couldn't decide if we were fishing areas that were not holding fish or if the fish were just refusing to bite.

1000 boats and a 20+ MPH winds don't help fishing conditions. Did anybody find a solid spot/pattern?

On a side note, how large do you think the swells were on Saturday? It was some of the rougher water I have been in.

Patterns on Pines this spring have been hit or miss. Water temps have been up and down too much IMO.

BTW I did not fish the KYKX, but it's been a tough spring.

Summer should get better!! Hotter the better!!

We did good Saturday with 9 fish and best 5 about 19 pounds. Sunday 6 fish and about 14 pounds. Set up on secondary point close to deeper water and fished slow. And I did not have one
complaint about other anglers. Lots of traffic around me and
no problems. Yes, this spring has been odd, hit or miss!!

Fishing was tough for us all we caught Saturday was a Crappie. The waves looked to be solid 4 footers that we were hitting on the way back to the ramp, a few were a tad bigger than 4 though for sure. Sunday we caught some dinks and one about 2.5 lbs that was it. Fished deep shallow slow and fast, didn't matter they just did not want to bite.

Our best 5 both days would have been between 11-13 lb. Probably caught around 10 fish both days. Main lake points.

I weighed every fish in the tournament. Winning fish weighed 8.59 lbs.

There were several fish in contention to win the truck. I let each one of 'em sit on the scale as long as I could; to see if they would drip down or flop enough to get the exact 5.700 but each time the scale would lock at the exact weight just short or over the necessary number! I even moved the basket to see if it would come up different. Would have liked to see somebody win a truck.

Once the tournament was over it was easy to see the prime bite period, the bigger fish were all weighed in between 10:30 and 1:00 hours. Amazing how many guys hold fish all day until the final hour. Some were gambling on the 5.700, and others, I don't know why they bring a two pound fish in when the last pay spot on the board is already a five pounder!!!???

The wind on Saturday afternoon was vicious. Sunday morning the wind was colder then Saturday but at least it laid down after the noon hour.
