i am looking to find some shell beds in deeper water... anyone have any expert opinion on how to determine what a shell bed is on a graph like this ???

or even further am i wasting my time doing this? i fish martin creek lake since its so close to my house and there is NO grass.... and not a ton of stuckture ... just having ideas in my fat melon lol

i wish i was that good at my electronics. do a google research on mussel beds it will tell you what type of bottom they like and average depths. then the search begins from there if you find the right one it can be lights out.

You can definitely find them with your downscan, they look like a slightly thicker, uneven black line right on the bottom of the graph. Hopefully someone has a pic. . .

I think those might've came from Doug V... The main think you'll have to look for with side imaging or 2D Sonar is the hard return which the green and red color platelet does very well.

That pic is from a Humminbird graph, the only way you might have the red/green option is while on "night mode" but I don't know if the elite 7 does the night vision option. I only have HDS graphs and they have it, not sure about the elite.
