The wife and I are in Port A for two weeks. We fished the south jetty today and got into the Mangrove snapper. We caught them freelining shrimp off the south jetty. We kept 25 that made a nice mess of filets. to me this is the best tasting inshore fish, Going to try them again tomorrow.

welcome to the TFF. Be cautious, what you and the wife are doing is extremely addictive, but sure beats a day at the office.

At least my boat and truck are paid for, woo hoo!

I also live in the Metromess and have been kicking around the idea of buying a multi use boat that I could take to the coast and bass fish from while I'm home. Let me know how your rig does. Good luck!

We're leaving for Port Aransas on the 11Th of May and hope to stay there to the 31St. Maybe if you come down we can do some fishing. We are taking our 23' Galaxy with a 5'0 Mercruiser.
We need to find a place to launch our boat and don't know where to fish at. Any locals want to give us some info and possibly do some fishing with us?

When i go i like to surf fish at night... They sell these pvc plunger things at the hardware store that you use on the sand to extract ghost shrimp. Put the shrimp on the hook and throw it right where the waves begin to crash. and your guaranteed to catch Whiting. Whiting are a very tasty and for their size good at fighting. I usually kill one on the spot and hook up my shark setup. At night go waist deep in the surf and youll see their fins just throw the bait and youll catch em!!!

Yep... Im that highschool kid who spends all his lunch money on tackle

I'm at port a today. Spent the afternoon surf fishing while the family played in the sand. Caught 2 whiting off fishbites on the bottom. Thinking bout checking out the jetty or one of the piers tonight

If your cc boat is a bay boat like it sounds watch the weather and only go out if its nice those boats don't do as good in big seas as you would think they are made to run in shallow water not punch through waves. You can go and have a great time when it is nice. Just wanted to give you a friendly warning.

j_mit, we're in the same boat (pun intended). I live in Keller in the metroplex and have a 22 ft triton bay. I will be making my first trip to the coast in June and staying in Rockport. Staying at kon tiki resort which has slips. I plan on fishing aransas and copano bay. Picked up few maps and will try it on my own. Looking mostly for reds
