Just wanted to express my opinion about Media Bass. They have pulled a sorry move as far as I am concerned. Their original schedule had their tournament on May 4th on Lake Tyler. They changed their tournament to Lake Palestine, also on May 4th. They have not had the number of entries as they have had in the past (19 in their April tournament), so they decided to "piggy back" the Fishers of Men tournament (45 entries in their April tournament), scheduled for Lake Palestine also on May 4th and has been scheduled on May 4th since last fall.

Here's the deal. Fishers of Men has had some very generous donors pledge additional money for the tournaments, which has pulled in record numbers of anglers for the Texas North Central division. These donors did this in order to help build the division and help spread God's word, not so Media Bass can jump start their division.

Additionally, Media Bass is not a trailering tournament. But, as stated on the Media Bass website, they are allowing trailering, and fishing to start at 6 am, in order to get more teams to fish. I understand that, but don't do it at the expense of another trail. This is a perfect example of how tournament trails get a bad rap. Now, teams can double up and fish both tournaments, but now you are giving the Media Bass only anglers an advantage by letting them on the water atleast 30-45 minutes earlier because the teams that also are going to fish Fishers of Men will have to launch with the rest of the teams that will be fishing Fishers of Men only.

Tommy Morton, I wish you well with your tournament trail. But it is in my opinion that this move is very unethical on your part.

That move tells you everything you need to know about the people running it. A bad decision when they choose tactics to steal business rather than earn it !!!

It seems to me if a team doubles up. They should follow the rules of both circuits. So if they fish 30-45 minutes early for Media then Fishers of Men should DQ them for their tourney.

Pretty sound logic, hard to argue against your case. But I don't 100% blame Tommy for trying to satisfy some of his guys that undoubtedly lobbied for him to do so. As far as media overall they are a good group of people, there has been much much worse that have came and went in that game.

I don't see the big deal. It's giving the guys that want to fish both the opportunity to do so. Media is working to make it convenient for them.

At least they aren't competing against each other the same lake forcing both tourneys to fail.

All of your opinions are your opinions. YOu can't plesae everyone, but I made an effort to please as many folks as I could. Sorry that you all don't agree, but at Media Bass we have some flexibility to make decisions to better it for the Anglers. Trailering isn't our normal mode, but if foul weather we do, so it is not something new to Media Bass. Staging 2 livewell checks to accommodate Anglers fishing both is also not standard mode, but we are doing that.

Best of luck to you all!!!!!

The media guys that are fishing FOM have to take off by their boat number with the FOM guys from the south in. The media guys that are not fishing FOM are leaving at safe light that has been determined to be 6am. I am not sending out FOM guys......

I don't see the what the uproar is all about, but I will say that I have fished for Tommy in the west division and he has always been a class act. I really don't think he would try to do something unethical, he knows better than that.

Tournament fishing is really such a competitive deal, both with anglers and company's who put on these events, there is just a limited amount of available dollars that are spent each weekend by folks who enter events. I don't know the whole lay out of what a company earns at these events to operate there company but just the cost of traveling pulling around the trailers and the release tanks I am sure haves a great deal of cost alone, add in all the other cost they have and you can see how expensive it is. I am guessing here but to have sponsors you have to have numbers when going to the table, a return on a investment I am sure a sponsor looks at each season on where they spend there dollars. With trails like champs, BLT, TTZ, TTT and a few others as well, add in all the big bass events with the hourly pay and some of the other fund raiser events you can see how it really is so competitive very weekend. It was said that no one can please everyone and that is really the approach one has to do, take Bass Champs for example, the whole 3 fish deal this year and all the run it got, a lot of negative run but it seems to be irking out fine. It seems like Media just made a decision to offer something to the angler and hopefully help them as a company, how we choose to spend our entry dollars is our choice. These guys who put on these events I know work hard and I am sure some where in the mix, they work under a lot of pressure. I have a great deal of respect for you directors for sure. I hope this deal at the end has success for this event for both anglers and companies.
