I had 3 police cars swarm on me here in Mckinney. They came out of nowhere. Me, my cousin and my uncle were fishing at a creek and they thought we were doing illegal dumping. When they saw the fishing poles and I showed them the creek, they couldn't do anything but laugh, apologize and one even said he was coming back to fish himself.

While I 100% respect our law enforcement officers, if they draw their gun and point that frickin thing at me (where at that point I could be killed if he twitched, sneezed, etc) they 100% better have a reason to do so and I would certainly demand an explanation and an apology. Stopping you from fishing, asking questions, etc, etc, all good and no problem with that, but pointing a loaded weapon at you demands an explanation. Hell..I might have had a heart attack just staring at the gun being pointed at me! lol...

I stand by my assumption that you were using a deadly assault fishing rod which he may believe needs to be banned lol

Its not about how deep you can fish but by how you wiggle your worm

Doing his job or not, if you got a license plate number, LAWYER UP and go after him. We don't need those kinds of goons driving around flashing badges, drawing weapons and flexing muscle just because he doesn't like the way you look.

You said "I believe he was state police" and that he was driving a black suv. Was he wearing a uniform or was the suv marked as a police vehicle? In other words, what made you think that he was a law enforcement officer? There are a lot of jack-wagons running around pretending to be police officers.

I didn't see anywhere in the original post about the officer, if that's what he was, actually aiming or pointing the weapon at the op. Did the gun get pointed or was it just out by his side? It sounds like nitpicking but the two are very different things and specificity is important in situations like this.

It's possible officers were looking for a suspicious person or someone who ran that just committed a violent crime. Jumps out, quickly verifies you aren't up to anything, and it's back to the hunt. If there are any questions in your mind about the encounter call the local jurisdiction and make an inquiry.

Sorry for the lengthy reply but the initial post doesn't really give much info. As someone else asked was he in a marked unit or uniform? How did he identify himself as an officer? Morning was mentioned but what time of morning, night or day? If dark then how dark was where you were? Would it have been difficult to see at a glance that you were fishing?

If a serious discussion is wanted or incite into the incident is needed then more info is needed. If not I'll just hush and climb back into my hole. smile

If he was looking for someone in particular he should have informed you there was a dangerous person in the area and then give you a description etc... IMO Man I would report this quick like and see what was going on that night.

He was in plain close with a badge clipped to his belt. I came through the woods and he was approaching my car with his weapon drawn, I yelled "excuse me sir, sir" he didnt imediately see me and swung around a bit franticly and settled his gun just below me pointing it in my direction, he never actually pointed it directly at me at least not for more than a moment. He asked what I was doing and I told him fishing, he then started to holster his weapon and at that time I took a glove off my left hand and stuffed it in my back left pocket and he grapped his gun again as I did it, I put my hands back up imediately and he holstered his weapon again and left in a hurry before anything else could be said. He was driving a black suv that seemed to be a legit police vehicle, I have seen the suv before, he drives extremely fast, Ive seen it literally going over 100 in a 35. I know state police used to at least drive those black defenders, so thats what made me think of that with the blacked out suv, but its just a guess. The way he was acting scared me, he should have explained himself. My area of Texas has alot of corruption in the government and police force so I wont be poking the bear by reporting it. The entire police force in the next town was fired years ago for corruption and its only got worse since. Im just glad I got home alive, which is a feeling I feel far to often these days.

File a report with the Texas Department of Public Safety--- of any wrong doings of your local law Enforcement-- if you feel they are not just and your report may end in the wrong hands..so to speak--
DPS will investigate the matter..you may not know they are but, they will check it out..
