GreenRanger will only throw Bill Lewis Rat-L-Traps. Pretty sure he has had the same one tied on since I've known him.
I have a Largemouth at home....sometimes she lets me go fishing.

Better question would be, "Is there anyone that doesn't throw a rattletrap?"
Might not throw it on a particular day, but one is always tied on.

Have about 40 in my boat now... No floaters, rip them over grass, majority are red.

Have about 100 different lipless crankbaits, and still have a dozen or so Bill Lewis ones. I fish fast most of the time, so I throw them a lot,. Depends on what kinda sound they want......even throw silent lipless some times.
My passion...........figuring out the fish. I don't care what I catch!

The Bill Lewis floaters really dont float they just dont sink as fast as the standard model does. They are probably no longer made, but even the standard model is easier to fish over grass since it doesnt have the internal belly weight like the excalibers and strike kings do.

I throw the floating trap here in Virginia especially on the Potomac River. Only dives to about three or four feet, and floats up slow. I'll bring it over grass and pause occasionally, since it floats it lets me work it slower than the original trap keepin it in the sweet spot longer. my buddy make some damn good one, check them out. www.riverratcustombaits.com
A guy told me, "I run around in an old tin boat for years, I know exactly how you people are!"
