Hey guys.

I've gotta reload my stock of jig heads and wanted to see what you guys consider to be the best for soft plastics (strong, sharp hooks).

I tend to fish 4"-6" plastics (shrimp or shad immitations). I also like a wider gap hook. I guess the ones I have been using are the "darter" style.

I don't really pay attention to the weights too much but I think it is mostly 1/8 oz when water is glassy and a 1/4 when there is more wind.

I never really fish deep water.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Sean

Norton or TTF screwlocks and you'll be just fine.

Terry Oldhams screw lock with gamakatsu is the original and still the best.

Gammy, Norton and Hogie jigheads are all great. I don't like Bass Assassin jigheads as much. My main guide line is "short shank and wide gap". The short shank allows the plastic to have more freedom and movement. The wide gap makes up for the shortness of the shank and has a better hook up ratio than most think it does. Also, there is less "slide" and leverage for a fish to use to come unbuttoned. Longer shanks are great to have when flounder fishing, though. 10 second rule and long-ish shank hooks are the rules for flounder.
