I have one i think its called the stripping board, its made from a piece of plastic with soft rubber needles that stick out of it. I like to wear it down around my thigh so my stripping arm runs the line directly across it, that is of course when i am bank fishing, if I am wading I like it slightly higher.
I am a part time custom rod builder, Rods By Chris. I specialize in fly rods, but just down right enjoy building custom fishing rods. I see each as a piece of art. rodsbychris@gmail.com

I've got one of these: http://www.williamjoseph.net/gear.php?userChoice=Stripping-BasketI dig it out when I get good and frustrated with my fly line tangling around every stray plant cell within 50 feet of where I am standing on the bank. Then I use it for a while and enjoy not snagging line on anything other than shirt buttons, my hat, etc. After I've used it for a while and am frustrated that the basket isn't quite big enough to suit me, then I go back to my SOP: piling huge wads of line at my feet, snagging it on things, having my casts stop just short of my intended target, and cursing. In summary Pros: It's very portable and easy to use. Cons: It's not big enough, but nothing (even the deck of my boat) is.

the secret is to find/ continue to search for something that works for you; we all strip line and cast differently so one's solution is almost unique; standing, sitting, moving, not moving;height, it all makes a difference;if cussing helped I'd have solved the problems 20 years ago-p-

I made a basket out of a plastic stool I bought in the infant section of Walmart. Might be a little small, but when you have the stool upside down the side that goes toward you is curved to fit against you well. Cut a couple slots in it to fit a belt and drill some holes for posts to keep the line from tangling.
FISH ON!!! ummmmm off

I made one similar to what Johnny Angler described. It's annoying to me, but so is getting my fly line tangled in shrubs, rocks, stuff floating in the water, my boots, stepping on it, etc. and usually at the worse possible time. You have to choose which problems you're willing to live with.
