I am looking at a 2000 Champion 186 with a 2001 150 merc. I have heard good things about champion and bad. I know they are out of business. Is the hull construction good on the champions? My buddy has one and loves it, but its an older model. I saw a guy selling one on here that had a de-lamination problem is that common? I am looking at it this weekend. There does not seem to be any stress cracks and the hull is composite. Any info/advice would be great.

As good as any for the year vintage and way better than most. But it's a 12 year old boat and motor and should be inspected as such.

can't go wrong with a champion, I have an 82 that will fish and run with the big boats. that delamination on the one on here is likely from a hull strike, don't think I have ever heard of a champ just coming apart.
like pat said check the engine out and if its good be happy you got a great boat when you buy it.

mine: (has a different engine on it now for go faster mode, lol)

I am running a 87 - 20ft. And it is my 3rd. Champion and I have had no problems at all with the hulls. They are great boats!
