Hey all
Was out on EM last Sunday for 5 hours, caught white bass on just about everything I threw, from 2 feet of water all the way to 20 foot points. I was only able to catch one small bass, and that was on a fast retrieved crank. Any tips to weed out some of the other fish? Water temp was 67, and in two of the small creeks I did still see bass on beds, but they wanted nothing to do with me.. Any advice will be a help, still trying to get dialed in on Texas fishing.

That just means if you go back the next day you will catch 20-25lbs and it will be lights out. EM is bipolar.

Eagle Mountain can go from Awesome to Awful then back to Awesome overnight. Keep at it and you will have great days out there.... They like shallow crankbaits and blue fleck power worms those 2 baits will get you bit

I like to see these type of comments. It is the only Lake I have fished since moving to TX. Helps confirm it is not just my rookie fishing skills....:)
Lessons learned so far- Get some heavier braid. Make sure drag is set correctly at all times. Expand my knot knowledge so my braid does not slip out again and cost me the biggest bass of my life.

Had good luck on square bills and throwing a 4 inch swim bait at cover and letting it sink followed by a slow retrieve. However both methods also cought sand bass to. I've never "dreaded " catching fish before but dang pulling up sandies gets redundant

I've fished EM just a handful of times since moving out here this past year. I think everybody has problems keeping the whites off your bait. But what I have found that helps a little is to throw "largemouth" baits. What I mean is slow down with a tx rig or jig or something that doesnt move as fast or imitate a shad. I know that might sound ridiculous and you can definitely have a bad day doing that but that's really the only way I have experienced avoiding the whites as much. I wouldn't call myself an expert though and I'm sure there are other guys on here that can offer even better advice.

What I have found interesting about EM, is that coming from the midwest, broken shorelines, with big boulders, that drops to 5 or 6 feet of water should be money; not the case here. I can honestly say inthe year I have lived in Texas the only consistent pattern I have determined, was one day no Ray Roberts will a square bill. Other wise I am picking fish up in places I wouldnt expect, and the areas I think they should be they are not. I am used to predominent weedlines dropping to 10 - 15 feet of water, so my learning curve for the structure here has been slow. Thanks for the input..
