I'm wondering if anyone has or had a crew max with the 5.7 motor and how it pulls a boat? Considered looking into getting one for cheaper fuel purposes, considering I am currently in a f250 diesel. Any thoughts??

With a 4:30 rear end, towing a boat is no problem for the 5.7 Tundra. Many of the Elite Series pros pull boats all over the country with Tundras. They tow in every geographic region there is.

I don't pull a boat but do pull a 34 ft 8000 lb bumper pull camper. The '08 Tundra dbl cab does a great job towing that trailer, even in the Colorado mountains. Gas mileage sucks when you pull a large camper that has a big front profile. Went from Amarillo to Clines Corners, about 225 miles and had a total of 1.5 gal left in the 26 gal gas tank. About 9 mpg. My brothers '08 Ram pulling a similar trailer had only 1/2 gal left in his 26 gal tank. In the mountains we'll get about 7 while still averaging close to 50 mph. Without the trailer, the Tundra will get 15 to 17 mpg highway, 14 city.
Hope this helps ya.

Of course it will pull a boat just fine, but if you looking to save fuel I think your barking up the wrong tree.
A well maintained F250 should be saving you in fuel... provided its not a stock 6.4.

Get a Dodge for all the pulling power and better diesel mileage than a Ford. A 5.9 diesel anyway.
On a trip to Alabama a couple weeks ago I got an average for the trip of 22.2 mpg. Drove to the Mobile area and back and got fuel one time.
They do pull boats too.

Just the gas mileage sucks! ..I am just wondering what kind of mileage are you getting,I am on my second Tundra its a crewmax 4x4 LTD and I am getting right at what it is rated to get.I am thinking with some more miles put on it ( has less than 2k now) I should be able to do a little better.

I bought 2013 crewmax and 2 days later went from Amarillo to Amastad and back. averaged 11mpg at 75mph. I cant complain about that. Good as my F250 diesel did. Now I have about 5k on it and still about the same. 15-17 without boat on hwy.
I really like the Toyota, and I was a Ford man all the way! until now...

Love my 2010 Tundra Crewmax. I bought it brand new. I pull a 21 ft Champion with no problems. The gas mileage is not the best, but the pulling power is wonderful and the overall quality is top notch. I have owned Chevy and Ford, but I am glad I chose the Tundra, because it exceeded all my expectations.

I have 2) one is a SR5 07 and the other is a 08 CM both have been the best US domestic built trucks Ive owned since the late 70's. Pretty safe bet Ill never own any of the other imports(chevy, ford, dodge)again. My 07 ate a water pump @ 87K and 3rd set of tires, now has 183K and still on original brakes etc My 08 is right near 125K and never had an issue that wasnt a normal wear item(tires) Both run 20W full syn oil with 10-15K OCI's

I would say Toyota is domestic built but still owned by Japs. But Dodge builds trucks in Mexico, Ford builds engines & parts in Mexico. So it doesn't really matter any more to me. I say get what you want and role with it. Even when you buy American brand vehicles there not all American no more... Damn shame to..

I was at dealer getting first oil change on Tacoma last week. I was talking to a service writer and he said the MPGs on his Tundra got better up to 10k.
