I'm buying a new reel for my birthday soon and I am wanting to try a lews reel. My question is should I buy the regular Speed Spool, Tourney Speed Spool or Tourney Pro Speed Spool? I am looking to use it with a flippin stick and I want the 7/1/1 gear ratio. Obviously they are different prices, but I want to know which would be best for flipping out of those three. Is there enough of a difference in the tournemant or tourney pro to warrant getting one of those over the reg. speed spool? Let me know what yall think.

Thanks,

Jared

I cannot speak to the differences between the Lew's reels themselves. I can however, offer my humble amateur opinion of the Lew's reels I have been able to use/test on the water. The Speed Spool, (retails for $99) is a fantastic reel. Fits very well in my hand (each person of course, will be different) casts a mile, smoothly.. drag is quite smooth when fighting larger fish, and is tough to beat at the price point. I've long been considering slowly upgrading all my reels to Abu Garcia Revos. Having now thrown the Lew's on a few different occasions (namely while fishing with Lance Vick) I'm strongly re-considering. If I were to want to test the waters, I would consider starting with the Regular Speed spool, for the price.... and go from there. Superb reels, all around.

I like the 99 dollar ones. They are great reels! I have 3 of them with the different ratios. You cant beat it for the price and I have read that there is not really any difference between those and the higher dollar ones except for the price. They are super smooth and will cast a mile!

I would be drinking but I have a Fishing problem.

I have several of the Revos ranging from the cheapest one to the more expensive ones out of their lineup, but I just recently purchased a Lews Tournament MG. After using the Lews, I do not know if I see any reason to ever purchase another Revo, I like it that much.

Thanks guys! I will probably go with the regular speed spool then. Sounds like that is the concensus. Anyone that has used all three and see any reason why the tournamant or tourney pro speed spools are that much better?

Love my lews tour, it's really about how much u want to spend. The quality at each price point is awesome. If its for a younger guy you might look at the super duty, it's like 175 and supposed to be made for guys hard on equipment. The reel I have is BUTTERY smooth

Get a regular speed spool, you will like it. Heck, for the savings get 2.

+1 on the 99 dollar model. I recently bought one and fished it for the first time and loved it. I will definitely be buying more in the near future. Excellent reel for the money!
