If you want to miss all the small town traffic lights you can go I20 to Abilene then 277 all the way. However, sometimes it can be interesting if not fun to travel the back roads even though it will take a little longer time wise.

At least my boat and truck are paid for, woo hoo!

No matter which way you choose be careful, lots of deer starting move around on the roadway since there green and everything else is brown!

What deer hunter says is the absolute truth, beware the deer especially during the cooler times of day and night.

Way better route. Too many lights on 377.

if ya want the most interstate just head down 35 to 90 the across, same mileage as through abilene, if ya do it at night traffic is not all that bad.

The absolute fastest way from DFW is I-20 to Abilene, then to San Angelo/Del Rio on 277.

7 1/2 hours from Plano .20 west to Cisco 206 s-sw to Coleman 67 w-sw to San Angelo and then 277 south to Del Rio. And for the ease of driving go to Abilene and go south as this route has the least stops. Do not go on 377 or I-35

It depends on what time of day for me.

At night, I go I-35 South to San Antonio, and then shoot out 90 West to Del Rio (no traffic to worry about).

If it is during the day, then I take 277 (I've gone through Brownwood and San Angelo and can't tell a difference between the two). I took 277 at night once and saw hundreds of deer, and barely missed hitting one (he still hit the side of my car). I won't be doing that again.

you want 277 not 377. I made the mistake of 377 and it is a mess pulling a boat through the rockingsprings area. Make sure you keep gas tank full. When you leave Eldorada there is nothing, nada, zilch till del rio, including no cell signal most of the time. Blowing a bearing out there would absolutly suck.
