 anyone know about side imaging on HB1197?

looking at a boat to buy and they said that the 1197 is side imaging capable? do i have to purchase something to make it side imaging, or just turn on the depth finder? never owned a side imaging unti before. thanks

make sure that it says 1197si. If it doesn't say si, it is not a side imaging unit and can't be converted.

There is no 1197 that is anything other than an SI unit. The 1157 is the 10 inch 2d sonar only model. The unit and transducer are all you need for SI and DI (they're not like Lowrance where you need an accessory like the LSS to do it).

I would just ask if it has a working transducer cause if not they can be a little pricey.

Check the model numbers carefully. The 1197, as noted above, is SI unit. The 1157 is not. The current list price on the SI transducer is 269.99 on the HB website.

If it is a 1197 and it's set-up well, it's a very good unit.
