My last report a few weeks ago was talking about the slow fishing in march and early April...I also said it would turn on literally anyday and boy has it !!!

I'm ready to declare spring on Texoma has sprung !!! Fishing the last ten days has been very good...not yet rock and roll awesome...but very very good..

Last ten trips we've been catching limits of 30-60 fish and having just a real steady bite all day..not rock and roll action but very steady and consistent ..today was rock and roll the first two hours..we were catching doubles and triples all morning, until the winds totally died down and then it was just slow pickings until noon..
All trips the last ten days have been bait trips and all fish caught in 15-35 feet of water..fish are now getting up on the flats early and feeding hard then going out deeper around mid day..haven't seen any birds in the mornings but did one afternoon trip a few days ago and saw birds working everywhere..
95% of our fish the last two weeks have been big fat males ready to spawn anyday..a couple big females still full of eggs that haven't spawned yet but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the spawn is in full swing and should be over soon..
Yesterday I even saw some egrets working shad along the banks and been hearing about shad spawning on the rocks a bunch way up on the north side...
Nows the time to be getting out the and gettin ya some!!!

I have not thrown any top waters yet but gonna have my first top water trip tomorrow so we'll see how that pans out..but I'm hear to tell ya the bait fishing is top notch for numbers and size!!
Probably from here on out I'll be starting a lot of my trips chunking top water plugs and then switching to bait..I won't be doing anymore all lure trips until the slab bite starts..usually for me that's about July..the bait bite is just too good to mess with lures for the next two months
FYI ..shad have still been easy most days early in the morns before sun up..here in a couple weeks when the spawn starts you'll be able to get all ya want right at day break..but until then it's still a 3-4 am deal..

Had some decent top water for my Sat am trip just as that front was coming through at first light for half hour. It will be ON for sure real soon.

Duck it's about time ....saw for myself shad spawning all over the mid lake area today and although we didn't catch many top water fish we got a fair number of blow ups....they got it on their mind

Bait fishing was good today but a ill bit slower than previous days..no wind at all sure didn't help..but we did manage a two man limit..3 on top and the rest drifting shad.

I gotta get up there soon! I have to officially break in my boat with a big cooler full of fish.

Thanks for the report, you have got my attention. Plan on being there Friday Night and Saturday morning, hope that cool down predicted for this week doesn't affect them too much.

I marked surface temps of 67 this morn...cold fronts ain't gonna hurt anything from here on thru the spring..

Dang man I've had days off each week for the last few weeks and I'm still tired...21 days gonna be rough, but at least the fishing s good now

I think we're headed that way this weekend. Can't wait!! And JD I'm going to hold you to that cold front comment

Alright JD...you said you would help me out with some topwater fish this year...I'm ready...even bought a rig for topwater fishing...I anit gonna tell ya what it is...
But it should be good for holding just off the bank and chunking plugs...
