I'm new to the forum and have recently decided on a kayak from the innumerable choices out there. (The 2 recent demos helped tremendously) So I feel pretty confident on the choice I've made (and as soon as I buy it, I'll post some pics). But my current struggle is how to get the new yak to the water (or even home from the store).

I've got a 2009 Jeep Wrangler X (2door) with a hard top. I don't expect that I can just throw the yak on top of the jeep with a couple pool noodles and strap it all down. The jeep hard top is thin fiberglass. It's great at keeping the weather out and is pretty lightweight, but isn't designed for the weight of a kayak.

So I'd like to get some thoughts from y'all and perhaps see some pics of how you transport your yaks.

My best option I think at this point is to take my top off, and use some sort of padding to strap it to the roll bar and over the front windshield (with tie-downs in the front and back). It's not the best option, but functional I expect.

The yak is going to be a ride 135 (so it's about 14' and when I flip it over for transport).

I had a Jeep and carried my yak on top of the hard top or roll bars all the time.

Did this on the way to sell the ride but plan in adding unistrut to widen the trailer to load the yaks side by side...

I have a small 2 door car and throw my yak on the top. It's sketchy but it works and gets held down really tight.

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.

I have a 2 door wrangler with hardtop..I use the Lange Rack for hauling my canoes. Much safer and stable than hauling it on the hardtop itself. No drilling and you can take it off when not in use. Not sure how to post a pic though

Devil Doc just purchased a beautiful Sand Mariner Ride 135 this past week and is working on a hinged roof mount for his Jeep. I saw prelim images and it looks like a winner! Hopefully Nick will share photos soon and...who knows...maybe make a few extras for other Jeep owners for a few $$$$'s.

I have a 2010 Wrangle Sport (same as X) 2-door. Getting my Pescador on top was a pain so I now have a trailer like shown above. Getting my Cuda12 up there would be doable, but its soooo much easier with a trailer.

Cornbeef... I like that setup! I looked a a Kongo rack (think that's what it's called) but it was going to cost around a grand... not worth it IMO.

Bought some cross bars a j cradles on amazon spent a little over 70 for the whole set up. May not be the quality of Yakima Thule or Malone, but is a lot cheaper.

Loading and unloading my Cuda12 is no easy task but it travels great, Lewisville to Cedar Creek this weekend, no problem.
