I'll be real..(kinda harsh but 100% the truth & the ONLY way to get over it)
Tell yourself to get over it & mean it, get back out and catch another, problem solved

I broke a probable teener off on Fork a few years back. I can still see her come out from under that log and eat my jig. Then she came up right behind the boat trying to throw the jig. I'd wager all my tackle that this fish was a mid teener.
You never forget it.

I've never caught a double digit and am certain beyond a shadow of a doubt I lost one today. Possibly a teenager rediculous donkey manchild. I teared up when she was gone. Will time heal this wound? I'm physically sick. the only way to get over it is fish as much as you can and the next opportunity you get at a d.d make it count it will come again maybe a while but till you land one that big or bigger the pain and mental anguish doesn't go away fishing is mostly all mental. I lost one at Dunlap two weeks ago in pine roots could see her under water not even gonna try to guess her weight bit she was big broke off thought about everyday until Monday when I was fishing at Mcqeeney and caught my new p.b. an 11.01 now that fish is all I think about .

Never will. I am certain I lost one SAL and seen one lost in the back of my boat that would go 16.

If I had a dollar for everytime barrett set the hook on our falcon trip and said "that's a 10", i'd be able to buy myself a decent cheeseburger somewhere. Aggressive. About as agressive as me calling an 8 pounder an 11 when it jumped.....

I lost one that when I set the hook my rod Snapped on hook set, never got the hook in her, but she came up and you could have put a small basketball in her mouth. Went out and bought a better rod ( dobyns ) and since then have put a SAL in the boat and several DD's from that spot.
That fish still haunts me to this day, but I have went back several times and still see her in that spot, I am going to get her , thats my mission now
