I like the ole cane pole with no reel comboed with sewing thread and a paperclip hook. Works everytime

Seriously, any light spinning tackle will do fine. Some people like 7ft rods and some like 4ft. Just buy a cheapo combo and go fishin. You can figure all the details out after you get goin. Like the rest said, Wally World or Academy is a good place to get a 25$ combo

PNSP I'm all for that! I love my buggy whips! I have 6. So, maybe I need to be a charter member of your support group! Seriously though, I've had folks literally laugh at me when they see what I'm fishin with (especially in Galveston). They quiet down real quick when I start out catching them

Pro Angler in 8, 10, 12 foot and a Calais for me. Not doing any bass fishing so no need to waste the reels.

No Sir, you did not ask for anything but our opinions...sounds like you have gotten a fantastic range of options from some very good fishermen/fisherwomen. A sensitive rod tip with a good backbone is essential for fishing a variety of presentations...I have been known to buggy whip a few of them myself...usually got braid and a Shimano on the buggy whips though...
