I just bought my second Curado "g". I really like my original and have very few problems. My new reel is the same model with exception to gear ratio. The problem: I got like 6 rats nest my first day out with my new reel, No problems with my other 1 year old reel. I'm casting the 2 reels exactly the same, both spooled with 10 lb invisX. New one is filled slightly high but I've done that before with my old one. I've compensated with 1 extra brake pulled out on the clutch and tighter on the spool. Does the centrifigul brake need to break in or is my old (1 yr old) reel out of tune?
thanks

No, I don't there is any such thing as break in, just tune it right and use it up

The oil viscocity is different in both reels. No two reels ever perform the exact same. You have to dial it in for the parts of that reel, not what the other one had. Quantums are quite possibly the WORST example of this I've ever seen.

Thanks for the input. I am just surprised at the difference of 2 identical reels.

Lol, if you think Shimano is bad, go pick up two different Quantums.

I agree with the one reel has liter oil on the bearings.
This is causing to spin up and backlash more.
Their are two thing you can do one put heaver oil to slow it down.
Two learn to thumb and put synthetic oil on both reels,so they will spin up the same! hammer

One you build and fish with your own hand built custom rod you will fish with nothing else!
