Jig and Swimbait for me. I'm surprised by the number of spinnerbait responses. IMO one of the most versatile lures (deep, shallow, fast, slow, jigged, yo-yo'd)

Spoon and a suspending jerk bait that's it. I'm also wowed about the jig and spinnerbait responses.

To me this thread is really about fisherman's preference in location. Those of you who have no confidence in a lure are doing it wrong. You are too deep, too shallow, too heavy, too light, which ever that may be. I am no pro, not even a great fisherman, and I do have goto baits. The weather is my guide to fishing. Wind means you adjust, you either fish in coves, which will limit you drastically, or you fish with faster or heavier lures. These seem to be the obviouse choices, but not so fast. The worst wind blown points can be the best places to go weightless senko. Sucks to chunk out there line blown 20 feet off to side, but if you can hold your boat still, you can fish it like live bait. Just let it set there.it moves itself. And this works great. Spinnerbaits can cover large areas quick. They will get reaction strrikes. I use them in shallows, or rocks. This being said, shallows and rocks don't hold big fish year round. I catch fewer dinks on spinners, so if the bigger fish are not where you are fishing, and the dinks are, spinner may not be the choice. Jigs are tough for me because I have less confidence fishing deep structure. I can catch fish swimming jigs, but I would rather use soft plastics in these situations. They will get more of the smaller fish too, and I like catching them all. Rolling spinners deep off structure, jigging deep structure, anything deep structure is my NO confidence. This is what I will be doing all summer until I get some confidence. Location, weather, depth, retreival speed

I would rather get stung by a bee than throw a weightless worm all day or throw a jerkbait. I just don't like doing either much.

Then you have confidence in the techniques, just dont enjoy. I imagine some people with no confidence in lures and presentations, but are being told how much luck others are having with them, would prefer not getting stung..

I just hate fishing jigs. Not so much a confidence thing.
Whatever I'm fishing before catching that first fish deep is my "no confidence lure".

I guess I am strange or odd. My confidence is in ME to figure the fish out and present a lure that they will bite. If that is a dropshot with an 10' worm on, so be it. I have not caught any fish on a Alabama rig, but I still have faith in it, because my confidence is in ME, not the lure. First time a threw a shaky head, got bit, first time I threw a drop shot, caught fish. So, to answer your question, there is NO LURE that I do not have confidence in, because it is all in my confidence with my ability to figure the fish out and present what they want.
Tight lines, keep safe and goo luck.
