We use dead shad mostly. maybe a few are live when we first catch them and drop them in a 5 gallon bucket, but they don't last long. They work good until they loose the glow to their eyes and then it's time to catch more. There is a cold front coming tomorrow so it may put them down for a while. 40 degrees Saturday morning may mean the shad wont show.

I heard the limit for catfish at livingston is 50 / day? Can anyone confirm? I'm aware of limits of only 25 / day.
I'd appreciate any info.
Tight lines!

I guess I should ask...
Will the recent cold front affect the shad coming up shallow this next week? Would it affect the kitties biting in the shallows? I'm guessing... Probably so.
I hope it warms up for us by then. I'm ready to get there Sunday and see some action.
Thx in advance!

Well, I'm at Livingston today through the week. I'm not quite to 50 catfish on my stringer. OK. I've only managed about 8 so far. I've already cooked and ate them for lunch. Man! were they delicious!
I have a boat but decided to bank fish today. I'll be in the boat tomorrow AM. This is a blast so far. I gotta catch some more fish for supper. I'll post pics later.
Tight lines.

The daily bag limit is 50 fish per day per person, blues and channels combined. Awesome huh? The only lake in Texas with 50 a day, because there is that many cat fish.

Another day fishing Livingston. It was awesome! The weather was great. We didn't get a 50 fish limit but we caught enough. At least compared to other cat fishing trips.
The shad are thick at the wall early AM. Fish average 14" to 18". My wife and friend each caught 5 pounders. A few others were 3 & 4 lbs. we're still waiting for the big ones. A few 10 pounders would be nice. A lot more 5 pounders would be even better.
We didn't eat our catch today. Instead, we had Lockhart TX "Blacks BBQ" sausage links wrapped in tortillas for lunch. My brother cooked ribeye steaks for supper. Man! Life is good! I'll post again soon.

That's good news!
I hope to be able to get back down there soon. The 5 we pulled out last time were some of the best catfish I have ever eaten.
