Hi everyone.

Moved down here from Fort Worth a year ago and I am taking my son saltwater fishing in Galveston tomorrow. We've fished freshwater for years and from reading the forums here it seems the jetties and the piers are good bets for both good company and good fishing.

Any advice for a saltwater novice looking to get his son on some fish? We will be leaving Tomball early and hope to be fishing by 7am.

Naturally any advice is greatly appreciated.

You should go to a pier. You'll get pleanty of help. The only good jetty trip is at surfside.

Thanks Bill. Do you recommend one pier oner another? I've been reading good things about Galveston Pier as well as 61st.

The newly renovated Galveston Fishing Pier is probably the best right now. The interior is nice, has (usually) clean bathrooms, and there will be no shortage of "experts" (positive or negative quality).

I've always caught lots of fish at Pelican Island, either on the pier or mostly on the cement slabs on the channel side. The Gulf side piers are nice also. I miss the old Flagship pier

Finally got home and had a trip worthy of its own thread. I've done a write up on it on the thread for the 61st pier. smile
