My dad, brother and I are heading down there next weekend...I'm gathering the same info...so far I've heard: reds, blacks, Pompano, trout and a few flounder...

Fly tier (yeah, I can fly fish...but the fish don't like frothy water!)

Heading there this Friday night... laugh Got all kinds of weights poured, ranging from 1/8th ounce to 3 ounce egg sinkers, and 1.25-2 oz flat sinkers, about 15 pounds worth! Got lots of hooks, and 6 poles all set up ready for 'bait'. Made a bunch of double hook rigs with various lengths and sizes of hooks and sinker clips too...Tied a few red/white jigs, got lots of jig heads poured ranging from 1/80th ounce to 3/4 ounce, got all kinds of jig bodies, gonna pick up some 'fish bites' in white and pink, got the cast-net ready, minnow buckets ready, got the cordless fillet knife charged up, gear packed all ready to head out...now, all we need is for the weather and fish to cooperate!

Young man don't forget what I PMed you about the surf. It should be good. The offshore forcast: .SATURDAY...NORTHEAST WIND 10 TO 15 KNOTS SHIFTING EAST IN THE
AFTERNOON. SEAS 2 TO 3 FEET.
This should equal nice surf fishing.

Well, I got in to mustang island state park about 12:45 friday night/sat morning...tried to get some shut eye and managed a few short hours. By the time we got bfast and headed out fishin to go fishin' it was about 0930. Went to 2 places to use the cast net and then we went and bought some shrimp so we would have LOTS of bait...went to Packery channel jetty...nothin' went to surf fish where KQT told me...nuthin' went to Charlie's pasture...nuthin'. Today we got more shrimp and went to the end of Packery channel, north jetty. There was a guy there slaying the reds like crazy, we set or rods up just like his...nuthin'... My dad actually caught a 10" sheepshead and had something on but wasn't used to using lighter line and lost it :-(
We had fun, but I'm really tied of getting skunked...
