Ok I've ordered the I-pilot too...I've been running the hand control 101 Riptide for many years being I make my living as a fishing guide I always have a spare trolling motor on hand...I wanted a bracket where I could swap back and forth from my old riptide hand control to the new I pilot...was looking on the net for brackets that I might could modify to do this and found that Minn Kota had beat me to it which is great...MKA-47 universal mounting bracket from Minn Kota should be out next month that's May 2013...the mount even slides back 6" so your I pilot won't hit the bow stop when loading and unloading the boat...I have one ordered through David at www.shut-up-and-fish.com that's where I'm getting the I - Pilot also...you can see the MKA-47 bracket on Minn Kota's website www.minnkotamotors.com maybe someone with computor skills can put a link to it...like superduck...you can also get the MKA-48 which is another top plate to put on the other trolling motor then all you have to do to swap them out is slide one out and slide the other one in...you may already know about this if not hope it helps!

Will this allow me to easily switch from a 101 I-pilot riptide to a 101 maxum?

big10 I think the MKA-48 will allow you to change out those units...not for sure but you could call Minn Kota 800-227-6433 and ask thats what I did.

I may be wrong but I don't think you can change trolling motors out like that with the one from RSR...I'm sure someone will chime in if you can.

We would have to add an additional plate as well. That would be the only way to make a quick change.

Either one would work in that situation.

So with either option an extra TM base mount plate would be needed. So if a person bought the Minn Kota mount and had 2 motors would they have to buy two sets or do they sell the extra base plate separately?

With the MKA-47 you can change out trolling motors...if you want to change them very quick you can also get the MKA-48 which is another top just like the one that comes on the MKA-47 to mount to your other trolling motor...having two tops and two trolling motors you slide one off and slide one on.
