Does anyone know a good spot to bank fish the Sam Rayburn Reservoir? I don't own a boat but have read the bass fishing is pretty good and really want to try it out. If there isn't a good spot for bank fishing here, do y'all know of another lake where bank fishing is pretty good?

The only places accessible on Rayburn that is not private land or controlled by the Army Corp of Engineers would be the Parks. San Auugustine has a decent amount of accessible water inside the big cove by the swimming area. Decent fishing in mornings and evenings. Caney Creek is kinda ok. might be slightly grown up with weeds. Rayburn Park and Powell Park are ok. Up North Hanks Creek and Jackson Hill are ok. The Bass fishing might not be as good as you would expect since you are restricted to the shoreline. The Bass fishing reports are from the entire lake and it is a very big lake. There is also access to the spillway below the Rayburn Dam but you need to check the turbine schedule since the best fishing is when they are turned on and pulling water and making current. That fishing is for more than just Bass too.

Rayburn would be very tough to bank fish and be successful

Bass_Guy I frequently see folks fishing the rocks on the north end of the 147 bridge between Zavalla and Broaddus. There is also a county road that runs from Broaddus back into Hog Branch, you can find it on Google Earth. From what I can tell guys usually park up on the old road and wade fish along the feeder creeks there, although I only see them when the lake is a little lower than what it is now, good luck.

San Augustine also has a cove on the opposite side of the park from the boat ramp. Some of the bank is tough to get to but there are some good bass in that area

Honestly your best bet would be to bass fish around the rocks at the spillway into the Angelina River - there is a park there and you can easily access alot of water - I have a friend that does it pretty often.
