What is the green snot-like slime? I've seen it floating on certain lakes and I've seen it out deep....even on rocky (non grass) lakes. Do fish avoid it? It sure seems like it!
You can avoid having ulcers by adapting to the situation: If you fall in the mud puddle, check your pockets for fish. ~Unknown

Weird it lived through winter.
I would have thought it would have died....
My gold fish pond got it bad last summer (actually choked out my goldfish and killed all them in a day). It's all gone and clear now.

I've learned to avoid it if possible. It sure ruins a cast if you get it on your lure.
We called it pond moss but I'm not sure what the proper name is.

I was wacking some fish in this one hole....water came up a bit and washed the slime off the bank. Fish dissapeared....I went from catching 3-5lbers to catching one dink about 12" long....and he was on the edge of the pocket away from the slime.

I think green snot is the technical name. I may be mistaken.

My gold fish pond got it bad last summer (actually choked out my goldfish and killed all them in a day). It's all gone and clear now. You might of had high nitrate or phosphates levels in your pond which caused the algae bloom. Fish aren't a fan of high level of ntirates or phosphates as well.

Makes sense why Lake o the Pines has so much on the north end...tons of chicken coops up river. Possibly?

I have caught a lot of fish in it on Toledo. You just have to fish a frog or senko so it doesnt mess your bait up
