Me and my buddy put in his kayak at Goat mans bridge yesterday to initially look for gar to shoot (ended up stepping on the line and losing the arrow). But i brought my sand-bass gear just in case, we paddled up past the second pipe past the bridge and in a spot with about three inches of water i saw three sandies chase minnows and then dissapear, later in that same spot i saw a couple more sandies headed down stream so i casted in the area and trolled most of the way back down the creek almost 2 and a half miles and didn't get a bite. I'm wondering if they are already done spawning?

When they are done, they will be hungry and easy to catch.

I don't know if you've tried but you are better off putting in at the 2499 bridge. You'll need a kayak cart to get the yaks under the bridge but there is a free parking area. From there head into the creek and start fishing. I fish primarily for crappie and have been pulling them out like crazy. Last couple of weeks I have marked a bunch of sandies on sonar and have caught a bunch of hybrid on bigger jigs. Good luck!

Guess the creeks will be done after this rain and cold front correct?

Do you think this Saturday will be a waste to fish the creek?

I'll be there trying on Saturday and Sunday. I fish Rowlett Creek alot and have slayed em this year. I have heard good things about Hickory Creek so I wanted to try ir this weekend. i don't have a boat and usually bank fish or wade fish. Where's a good place to get in?
