Has anyone else had to have their keyless touchpad changed out? What was the cost? I can't get half of the thing to work. None of my accessories come on and I know its not my circuit breaker, so I'm thinking its the touch pad??? The part for the big motor works fine. Any ideas???

The big motor has a separate circuit than the rest of the electrics on your console. You can switch off the main circuit breaker at the back and kill everything, lights, pumps, horn, etc., and the big motor will still operate. I would first cycle the circuit breaker off and back on and if that didn't do it, I would check the hot side of the circuit breaker for battery voltage. If your hot there, check it coming into the touch pad. If its hot there too, the touch pad may be bad.

My power poles are hooked up to that circuit breaker and they work, but none of my other accessories work. It just seems like no power to part of the keypad. Any ideas on cost of new key pad?

What year is your Ranger? The keypads/touch pad for certain models were recalled for 2011 and 2012 models. I believe Z520 and Z521 were the only effected models. Call the Ranger Warranty department and tell them your problem and provide your H.I.N.. I have a 2011 and they shipped it directly to me for free. The cost/invoice I received, even though it was covered, was $350. BBC has several threads on the different issues that arose with the failure.

I have a 2012 Z521 and have had the keypad go out twice. Once when sitting in the garage and once on the water. I'm not a big fan of the keypads. I never had any issues with the keypad in my 07 Z521. I do have a key I can plug into the wire connector if it goes out again so I can at least start the motor. Mine was covered under warranty both times, but I think they are 350-375 dollars. The key and accessories have different plugs.

From experience I can tell you they run around $300 -$400. Thought about changing back to regular key start but the wire harness and labor is expensive. Unless you have extra money to spare replace the keypad.

I just bought a Ranger and while in the back at the service department they had a box full of them they have pulled out of 2011/12 models. What I was told is that they are changing them out no questions asked as it is a dealer defect. I am not a boat mechanic but they appeared to be a sealed unit with a couple of plugs on the back..they said they were fairly easy to change out.

Mark, there is the keypad and then there is what they call the "Brain". The keypad is not that pad, but the brain is pretty pricey!

Ranger said I would have to change out both? Said you can't change out the pad without changing the brain?

Well That was if I bought a new one. If I can find one from 2005-2007 ranger i would not have to change out the brain. Does anyone have this? I will also check ebay.

Do you by some lucky chance still have the keypad?

I need one for my 2004 521VX. Anyone have a clue where I might get one quickly?
