Sure...
Lake Mead
Max. length 120 mi (190 km)
Surface area 247 sq mi

Lake Powell
Max. length 299 km (186 mi)
Max. width 40 km (25 mi)
Surface area 254 sq miles

Toledo Bend
Max. length 65 miles (105 km)
Max. width 10 miles (16 km)
Surface area 185,000 ACRES (75,000 ha)

Sam Rayburn
Surface area 114,500 ACRES (463 km2)

And of course you realize that a section (1 square mile) is 640 acres, right?

Lake Powell- http://www.powellguide.com/ 161,390 surface acres

Lake Mead- http://pubs.usgs.gov/sir/2006/5252/section2.html 162,700 surface acres

Toledo Bend number 22 on this list ahead of Powell and Mead.

You do realize surface arces are different than volume right?

I'm not a big fan of trailing either. Just for the exact same reasons as bigcat85 said. I could stay at home but I like the competition and want to have faith that people will do the right thing. We made a long run that day because we launched down south and ran north. Waves were very big and I got the stomach flu that morning and had to make that rough run back. Not very fun but I think everyone taking off from the same ramp, levels the field and keeps guys from having devious thoughts. Opinion only.

Ok... so a lake 65 miles long and 10 miles wide is bigger than a lake 186 miles long and 25 miles wide, got it. I didn't list any volume stats, it was square miles as opposed to acres (since that's how wiki had them listed). 1 square mile = 640 acres. Something in the math isn't working out. All the numbers I posted are surface area, whether square miles or acres.

I am not a fan of trailering. I like to sleep the night before and not get to the ramp at 330. Lucky this tournament was during the spawn but if it wasnt I would have been at the ramp at 230 so I could be first in and first out. (Guilty as charged) I have an 18 ft boat with a 150 and I would much rather see a traditional start then trailer. Saturday was not that bad as long as you take it easy!! Yea the lake is rough at lick and wolf and indian but heres the deal.... you are going there anyway regardless of ramp you put in. You are gonna be in big waves no matter what if you decide to fish there. I dont think anything is more dangerous than running timber at night or idling when some other guy decides to run. I honestly think either have a traditional start or cancel the tournament. Just my 2 cents.

Not sure where you got your numbers but according to this site lake powell is 6 miles wide at its widest point. http://ftcphotos.com/lpfaqs.html#1

According to this site http://www.usbr.gov/lc/hooverdam/faqs/lakefaqs.html lake mead is 8 miles wide.

I do not think it is the math that is wrong but the information you are putting into the equation. My whole point of my first post was just to point out that those lakes listed are not three times the size of several of our lakes here and in fact based on surface area we have one that is bigger than mead and powell.

The data I posted was pasted from the wikepedia page for each of the four lakes. You can pull it up yourself to verify it if you wish. The point was that they don't trailer there, but they do here and I was merely asking why. Maybe they just don't trust anglers in the other 4 states I've fished tournaments in.
