My daughter was 4 YOA when I took her. She dropped her princess rod in the lake! I gave her one of my 6' rods and I tied it to her wrist. But she did catch her first fish, a bluegill, and I have a picture of it. You can buy those floaters to go on the rod, at PBS. I have my 4 and 5 yr old grandsons coming down, and I will have them on their rods so I don't have to worry about it. They already have the rods.

I wanted to put a bream hook on there and get her a fish, but she has that "I do it" thing going on right now. She was fairly dangerous without a hook. I just let her catch the little plastic one over and over. She fished that thing for an hour and a half and never complained or got bored. My wife and I decided to send her to Grandma's because it was lunch and nap time. She cried when we got her out of the boat. I asked my wife, "I hope your ready, because that was me growing up." I never wanted to leave the lake, ever.
She just turned 2 on April 7th.
Set the hook first, ask questions later!!!

That's just awesome. Btw that whole I do it thing is so much fun lol. I remember having to tell my daughter to put her shoes on about a half hour before we actually needed to leave lol. Good times.
