I have a new power drive. It seems a bit hard to deploy and retrieve, also the transducer cable gets tangled easily. Any suggestions an how to make this unit easier to operate.

I don't think you'll find any solutions to your problem. I had one and hated it. I find the cable steer tm's much better in all respects.

I had a Power Drive and liked it. Really like the Auto Pilot feature if you have that. I have since upgraded to the Terrova with I-pilot and its even better.

The Power Drive is a little challenging to retrieve. You have to pull it straight back or it will bind. Try spraying Armor-All or WD40 on the shaft. That will help it slide easier.

Regarding the transducer tangling, route the cable through the deploy handle then tie wrap it at the top of the shaft. That will help keep it from tangling.

I went with the built in transducer on my Terrova to remedy that.

Thanks. I have searched everywhere for a solution. The Armor-all was the only solution I could find. Hate to change tm's so soon but am thinking about it.

I hate to burst a guy's bubble after a new purchase, but I bought a new PD 55 a few years ago and knew from the first time I used it that I should have spent the couple of hundred more on the Maxxum. I cursed the PD every time I used it until the boat was sold. I now have the Maxxum and man what a difference. Do yourself a favor and get out of it now while it is still worth something. There are obviously people who like them.

I have has one for a year now. I've only had cane drives but unlike it fine The transducer is built into the unit on mine. U can take it to a minnkota dealer and retrofit it with the built in us2 sonar built in but it's not cheap. Probably 200 bucks

Just get a Fortrex with built in transducers and you are good to go and you'll love it. I'm thrilled with mine after owning a Terrova and prior to that a PowerDrive V2. NEVER will own another electric steer tm.
