I use the Humminbird 798ci SI, I love my side image and the only thing I would change would be to get a bigger display. Lowrance also make outstanding products.
A lot will depend on your budget and the way you fish.

HB's start around $200 or less and go up to $2000+
you can get Side Image for around $700 ish new but there are some good deals for used as people want to upgrade to bigger units.

Lowrance Elite-4xColor

I picked one of these up at BPS. Haven't completed the install and I can't wait to try it out! Positive reviews and the BPS folks highly recommended the unit.

Humminbird and Lowrance both make a quality product. Are you going to make it to the g2g this weekend? If so there will be plenty of kayaks with FFs on them. Just ask the owner and I'm sure they'll be happy to show you all the features.

I don't always catch fish, but when I do, I prefer Dos Hybrids

Hey, Gamin fish finders are always my love. I will recommend echo 550c. Large display and accurate sonar. Here is a review

Which is the best fish finder? Curious.

If you are getting a FF you may want to consider GPS too. Nice thing about GPS is that you can mark locations. Other thing is that it makes it easier to follow contour lines when trolling.
I don't use my FF to find fish but I do use it to find the structure that I catch fish on, likes ridges, notches and humps.

Should find a few good deals now that it's spring...
Here's a couple Gander Mtn has on sale. I've heard good things about all of them, but never used these particular models...
