Anyone know a good place to stay on Murvaul? Safe and Quiet. Going there for the first time next month? Also any fishing tips? My wife and I are catch and release only and do not fish tournaments. Just looking for a fun three days. thanks ,PM if you want.

Murvaul Marina , [Stovals ] has several cabins on the water. Havnt stayed in one in years , so I cant say what kind of shape they are in. There always seems to be people staying in them. Thats the only ones on the lake that I know about .

As already stated there are some cabins at the marina. The marinas number 903.693.9301. You could stay in motels in Carthage 13-16 minutes away. Try eating at Fuglers while your there.

The lake is full of stumps so be careful. The timber field in the main lake is marked with wood post. There are a couple of marked boat lanes. Other than the two marked boat lanes you will want to run the shore side of the timber field markers. If you go above the bridge you will want to idle if you like your lower unit.

Dont over look the docks and boat houses while fishing. If you have a navonics chip, most of the off shore structure is shown and pretty accurate.

If you see a maroon and white ranger with a black and silver minature snauzer on the lake stop and say hi.

They should be on a normal post spawn pattern by then.

I would start out by finding grass, try top water frogs first hour of day, or cranking near boathouses...

When the sun gets up, hit all the points...search with a c-rig or deep crank bait...I've found em schooling on some points in may before chasing the bluegill spawn...

If that doesn't work, murvaul is about the best dock lake you will find.... I've had better luck on main lake docks, but that time of year they will still be in jones branch as well...

Flip a black and blue jig, and if the bite is real tough; go finesse with a trick worm on a shakey head

Pm me if this doesn't get you started enough!!

Also, the marina has renovated cabins, new ownership took over last year. It all looks nice.

Another spot is right around the island near the ramp...the bream and crappie will be in there... You can flip that grass and find a bass or two feeding at first light.

Also, straight out from that island there is an old duck blind that is only a flag post now. Find the flag and draw a line toward the dam....there is a ridge (or old jeep road) that connects the dam and the flag...

It drops from 12-18 on that whole ridge...fish and slow and find the crappie brush piles....
