I'm on the ferry going that way. The water looks good and the tide is moving. I will post pics, I hope.

People are catching some solid trout and a few red. No fish for me. I was using a purple/chart queen cocoho.

FYI. I was chosen for Additional screening at the ferry. I was returning back to the Island. There must have been 5 of us picked.

I got picked once on the way back to Galveston....I had an empty gas can in the bed of my pickup. The guy said I had to leave the landing to dispose of the can or fill it with water. Of course I had to leave the landing to fill it with water too. I told the guy he could throw it away but he said he could not. He raised sand over an empty gas can when I had a generator full of gas he had to look past to see the gas can. I have no problem with safety or being pro-active but he never addressed the generator.
Go figure........
I just went back thru Winnie and headed to Houston.

That is what I was told. Kind of asinine if you ask me. The vehicles all have gas tanks and there was a tanker on the ferry. you cant take gas can on ferry ?

I just went back thru Winnie and headed to Houston. Had that "screening" done to me this past yr. It was at the 3am. ferry heading to Bolivar. He pulled me over but not my buddy who had a smaller boat than mine. They said that my boat was carrying an "exposed gas tank" under my center console. I told them that I had been coming over this ferry for years like this with my boat, and that most small boats have "exposed gas tanks". Drug his supervisor over and he let us aboard.

I know this matter well. If the gas can is hooked up to something, it's a part of the vehicle and is OK. Loose gas cans are not allowed. A red 6 gallon boat tank, for example, is fine so long as the fuel line is hooked up to the outboard.
Once I pulled up there in a tiny RV and the security guy shuffled over and asked, in barely-intelligible "urban" English, if I'd turned off my "procane" tank. I didn't answer him immediately, for I was looking at the tweakers roaming the parking area smoking discarded cigarette butts off the ground.
No wonder I love it out there.
