Curious if it's the trailer or the boat is front heavy. Never owned a Stratos, do they plane out fast? Looking at another 2004 Stratos the position looks about the same with the "275 PRO XL" mostly centered up in the wheel and the winch tower forward.

Honest answer and its been mentioned before. But as far back as the axle is there is no way your going to get the leverage needed to make it center balanced. Besides it it was centered balanced it'd bounce and whip your truck to death. The best option and cheapest at this point for you is to get a front receiver hitch so you can drive the boat into the carport.

Even with my 90HP, it does seem to get up on 'pad' pretty quick BUT, please bear in mind, this is my first bass boat ever. I really have no yard stick to go by. But, watching the other boats at Eagle Mountain, my Stratos seems to do well in that department. r/ Fred

something also possible id if that boat had a 150 on it it would have more weight on the back, and being it has just a 90, its heavy up front., what is max hp for your rig? 115 I believe. I'd have to check the plate inside the boat. Would the motor size of little change make that much difference? The boat is rated up to a 140HP...Now, engine that size I am sure is heavier... ......sigh..... thanks, Fred

all you have to do is have the bunk boards replaced so they are longer out the back end, then move your winch tower further back. sometimes a little like 6 inches, can make a big difference. someone may have replaced the boards before and cut them too short, then moved the winch tower forward. if u get it right, you can lift it with little effort. the winch tower is likely not welded, just bolted, so you can just loosen the u clamps, and slide it back. Arghhhhhhhhh....the 'winch tower', is welded, not bolted as I had hoped. But, ok, say I have a welder cut the tower, weld on a plate to use a U bolt pattern, AND replace my bunk boards with longer ones...if I move as much as six inches - I'm not sure my trailer rear tie downs would be usable.... r/ Fred

Hadn't thought of that. I will explore, hopefully, it won't cost a kings ransom. thanks my friend, Fred

I've bought from this company before, if you decide you want a front hitch. It'd be cheaper to learn to use the mirrors to back up though. Just turn the bottom of the steering wheel toward the mirror you want the trailer to move toward. http://www.thehitchstore.com/

Good info. Thanks....as my boat and trailer are on a 'road base' pad, these all seem good options.... r/ Fred

Crushed 5 lower disc in lower back and now, can't turn well at all. Thanks for the link. I like the sound of this, now I could make the 'bend' in my drive way and get it under the carport I am getting to cover the boat. No welding, like that for sure!!! thanks, Fred

Thanks but, no thanks. $1,300 plus is a bit steep for my retirement income. Think I'm going to forget the 'tongue weight' and try a front mount receiver on my Chevy 1/2 ton pickup. Good ideas though.. thanks, Fred

Well, I'm not sure if 'the' answer but, made a decision. I've just ordered a bolt on front vehicle mount for my Chevy truck. Won't solve the tongue weight issue but, I will at least be able ( I sure hope ), to park the boat back under a gravel road base pad and 'aim' it into a metal carport. Thanks EVERYONE, for your taking time to offer suggestions and replys!!! r/ Fred

stop messing around and get you one of these. got one for my boat and one for my 5th wheel That might be good on concrete but its not going to do diddle squat on unpacked base. Well, I guess it might do one thing. Sit there and spin in the gravel!
