Not sure about the fish but I know the people that fish for them sure are. Although I have to say, those 5-6lb trash fish i catch in my net sure do make good cut bait.

I just read through the bass thread and am happily surprised that many are giving much respect to our fish of choice. Just saying--
What has happed to you does not define who you are-
HOW you react to what happens to you DOES!

I catch a bass every now and then while fishing for cats, heck I caught a darn good one on cut shad at night last week.
It's not bass I have issues with, heck they are a fine fighting fun catching fish. Now Bass fishermen, they aren't quite as universally liked by me.

I fish for blues and they are an open water predator. They have alot of feeding habits like a hybrid or striper. The yellow on the other hand has alot of traits like a bass. They are ambush predators that relate to structure. Then there are the channels that are the vacuum cleaners for lake. I don't think alot is going on in a channels brain.
All different species have very different feeding habits. Bass are ambush predators that will sometimes open water feed and then at times will scavenge off the bottom.
I don't know. Depends on the day and how many I catch as to how smart I think they are. I was surprised to read in the bass section how good the hearing is for a catfish. That backs up some of the things I have learned about drifting and using different size weights for sound as an attractant.

Different sensory: LMB are good at detecting vibration in the water with the tiny lines of bones that stick out on their sides (one line of bones per side), they can be lured by sounds in crankbaits, etc.; The blue catfish's skin that cover the length of body is one massive smelling organ that can detect smells down current from a good distance away, they can be lured in with chums;
...IDK 'bout who is smarter, but I know that LMB is very dumb...bass fishermen get LMB to bite their "reactionary" lures just by making the fish angry... Think of it this way, if a salesman can get you to buy his junks just by insulting you to make you angry,...then you're not very bright, are you? LOL!

The pursuit (where are the fish), rigs design and setup, scouting, the awesome feeling of casting your rigs 100+ yards out, the total focus on the fish and the elements, the outdoors... the total exhaustion at the end of your fishing day,... the cooler full of fish to bring home... Yeah, I'm going to miss bank fishing!

So, a bass fisherman really isnt any smarter than the bass he's chasing, if a lure salesman can entice him to purchse a lure. I think I agree with that.

It's funny that the bass fishermen are talking strictly fish while the catters are bad mouthing bass fishermen.

Catfish eat things that look like poop,smell like poop,taste like poop,enough said. Maybe as far as bullheads and small channels. Other than that I believe blues and flatties are the top of the food chain in Texas lakes that's right

It's funny that the bass fishermen are talking strictly fish while the catters are bad mouthing bass fishermen. I fish for cats, white/hybrid/stripers and crappie every time i head out. I peruse all three of these sections as well as the bankfishing and I hold no opinion of those who target different species. To each their own. I do believe that bass are straight up DUMB. when you catch one, get him to the shore, and he somehow breaks the super old line you irresponsibly left on your reel for far too long, and sides back into the water just MOMENTS before he hits the exact same jig and gets landed again.... DUMB fish.
