I always use 20lb seagar invisx and a 15lb invisx leader no matter what. That is exactly what I use. I also put a peg-stopper below the bead to absorb the shock of the weight and bead on the knot.

Gotta tell you a funny story. This year, I was the back seater on a trip to LRH. The driver made a cast right towards the rocks with a C/R. I said, "Really, are you throwing right at those rocks?" He said, "if that were my brother, he would shut up and fish!" which I thought was hilarious, I taught him well. 20 seconds later, hung up, broke the line, lesson learned! Sometimes, experience is the BEST TEACHER!

If you are using the tungsten weight with the insert in it like academy sells that is the problem. They will cut the line regardless of what type of line it is.

You'll get more bites without a braid main line. Either flouro or mono would work and your braid may have been fraying on rocks on the bottom. That is false. You will get just as many bites with braid as the as the main line.

You will get just as many bites with braid as the as the main line. Not true. On heavily pressured lakes like Fork and Falcon, you'll get twice as many bites with fluoro as you will braid. Non-pressured or dirty lakes, I agree with Fast Lane. Heck, I bed fish with braid Whizzes them off! But for normal fishing circumstances give me fluoro or mono every time.
Coincidence is His way of remaining anonymous.

Heavier braid is a must. Don't forget to re-tie the braid either, I usually check it often. I fish a lake with lots of rocks and broke off twice the same day. Just like you I checked eyes and didn't know what was going on(50lb pp). Then my weight was tangled so while I was untwisting it I noticed how frayed and beat up it was from the rocks.

Doesn't make any difference.. I catch fish on a jig with straight 50lb braid in water clarity that you could see the bottom in 9ft. It is nonesense to think that Fluoro or mono Main line on carolina rig that has a 2+ foot leader is going to get more bites than braid. If the braid spooks them then so does that 1-ounce weight, bead and swivel.. The bait has a metal hook in it, that they can see and yet they still bite it...

I use 65lb braid with 20 or 15 flouro liter, as long as the liter is flouro or mono the fish don`t mind. You might not want to snap the hook set with a braid -flouro set up, more of a sweeping hook set has worked well for me.

Braid sux! Unless frogging, flipping HEAVY cover or spinning rod fishing with a Floro leader tied on by a double uni knot.

Fouz is correct,,,,it does make a difference on Fork. Just ask the guides there and they will tell you the same thing.

I could careless what a guide thinks. Anyone can buy a guide license. That doesn't make them an expert on Bass Fishing. The guys I fish with and against winning tournaments with braid have proven that using braid isn't a disadvantage.
