I appreciate everyones advice and opinions on this kayak. I would like for you to chime in on whether this is to big of a kayak for my 13 year old son. He loves to fish and is a good kid. With that said is not a big fellow but we go kayaking up at Beavers Bend every summer and he does fine on the SOT kayaks going down the river. What is everyones take???

I could have paddled that as a 13 year old but it depends on the kid. If he's a normal sized 13 yo and athletic it should be no problem.

He is a little below average...Not a weakling but he is not a big kid...

With the right sized paddle you'll have trouble keeping up in no time.

The cockpit area will seem to be a bit big (long) but the boat is not very hard to handle. I thinkat 13 i would not have had any problems.

Im about 5'6 or so and the [censored] Pit area seems to be made for a tall (taller possession) than myself. But it isn't a deal breaker, just gives more room down in the knee area

I have this kayak and have loved every bit of paddling it. That said, if he is a little undersized, it may be a little difficult for him at first. However, like conn said, get him a good paddle and I think he'll do fine.

He should have no problem handling it.

Unless you are absolutely set on a SOT, this is a great deal.

I have no connections to this sale, but if you are primarily flat water fishing, would make a great youth/wife yak. You could still rent/borrow yaks for river trips when needed if you felt uncomfortable with anything but a SOT. Just a suggestion - may not work for you.

Your kid will have no problems with that yak. My 14 year old could stand up and fish with ease. No problems keeping track or paddling in the wind. In my opinion it's a really good choice for the price.

Can't go wrong with one, used one for a year

I'm 6', 200ish. My 13 yr old Is just 2 or 3 inches shorter than me and wears the same size shoe. He's getting kinda scary. But I love the Pescador.

This is the boat I have and I love it. I don't think a 13 year old would have problems.

If you're real worried about it, they make the same boat in 10' for $50 cheaper. Might be a little more manageable. I think the only trouble he'll have is loading/unloading it, you might have to help him with that.

That won't be a problem because I will always be with him...
