It all started with a goal in mind and that was to fish A LOT in October!
First trip was a short 3.5hr trip on my boat which started off really rough and not allowing us to high speed troll in the sloppy weather. After the weather calmed down a bit we did some trolling for about 1hr with nothing interested and with quitting time fast approaching we decided to do some drifts with multiple rods from 190ft into 70ft this produced a nice king on the jig and a nice black fin tuna to close out a day of miami fishing! I had not fished miami in over 7 years!

The second trip would be a long trip all the way down in big pine with my buddy Luis onboard his 23ft seacraft I had never fished off of one of these boats and i was super impressed with the space and comfort! The day started off with a quick ride offshore and pitching a pinfish under some birds only to be hit by peanut dolphins but with big fish on our minds we picked up and continued onto the first wreck of the morning. We were ready to catch big fish with great conditions but apparently the ocean did not get the fax and the current was against the wind ALL DAY LONG! This did not stop us form keeping our lines tight though, Luis worked hard finding fish and we boated a lot of fish including a big AJ and some yellowtails. Luis was the man when it came to groupers though he must have caught 8 to bad they were just short and had to go back, he was also on fire with the yellowtails! I picked up a nice cobia that i thought would be my first keeper cobia but she was just short as well! On the way to one of the last spots of the day we marked fish in 60ft of water and Luis said drop your jig, i dropped the Ice Blue 7oz because it is what i had on my rod and no time to switch to a smaller one. As soon as the jig hit the bottom and i reeled it up a couple feet and jigged it i get slammed! This fight lasted a long time and went from 60ft of depth all the way to 150ft each time we got deeper the fish dove twoards the bottom ripping my line in short violent bursts! This beast pulled us out to 150ft and all of a sudden i felt slack, i handed the rod to Luis because i could not even hold it any longer. I thought he was going to reel in just line and no jig or leader but to my amazemend the jig pops up and attached to the jigs hook is a circle hook with a long piece of line! Apperently the fish had that circle hook in its mouth and it attached to my hook and some how acted like a dehooker and pulled my hook out of the fishes mouth. My buddy Luis is a captain and said in all his years he has never seen anything like that. Our final guess is a Goliath grouper. The combo i was using was my saragosa 14000 with 80lb braid on a trevala 50-100lb rod.

All in all i had a great couple of days fishing and boated some quality fish. Fishing in miami was cool since it had been so long and fishing down in my favorite place on earth the keys with my buddy Luis was a true pleasure.
Hope you guys enjoy the pics
Tight lines, flat seas and God bless,
