I think they are always bigger when you lose one. Never heard anybody say they lost a dink today. Lost a lot of fish at the boat always get upset when I do. Hate losing any fish no matter the size. Keep at it.

It's better than to have hooked and lost than to have never hooked at all.. Words of wisdom (and considerable pain and regret).....how do I tag this to my sig?... just like this...

Loosen your drag a little and if they are trying to jump keep your rod tip down

Loosen your drag a little and if they are trying to jump keep your rod tip down And don't reel your line too short from the end of your rod tip. People don't understand the incremental increase in pressure to the bait/fish when they get too excited on a big one and reel up within 4-6 feet (some only one foot) to the end of their rod. Mentally know that you are going to have to play it out 9 times out of 10. Leave plenty of line out so you can work the rod back and forth without losing the natural bend in the rod. Move your body along with your rod on hard runs near the boat.

I had plenty of line out just put too much on these fish... guess I got a bit too excited again and tried to horse them in...... lesson learned!
